Scenes in Senlor (Chapter one, the chase)

Running down the alley, I glanced back at the unusually clean path. I was in the second most inner ring of Senlor and growing angrier by the second. I glared at the orange garbed man who was only a couple paces ahead of me.

Earlier that day my crew and I had unfortunately decided to land our ship in the richer ring of Senlor instead of the lower ring. It had been nearly two cycles of Moon Cera sense we had traded their and we needed the money, the rich folk will pay anything for a mysterious item or some rare ale. When we landed in the plaza there didn’t seem to be many people their, so we decided that I should go advertise and attempt to draw a crowd. While walking down an alleyway, some blocks away from the boat, a man cut my bag from my shoulder and ran off with it. Little did he know that I was not and average civilian and proceeded to chase after him.

I was so thankful that I had choses to wear my black pants instead of my heavy (but warm)skirts, as I skidded out of the way of a bewildered centaur, who was enjoying the quiet of the alley.

“Sorry!” I called over my shoulder as I turned the corner onto a more extremely narrow passage way.

He was so close to my outstretched fingertips. The buildings were only inches away from my shoulders, and I could feel their radiating coolness when I got too close. Breathing hard, I realized that I only had one choice, otherwise we would just keep running until the world burned to the ground. Sucking in my breath I crouched low and proceeded to jump over his head as I grabbed the bag from his hand. Landing in front of him I didn’t risk slowing my pace.

Opening the well love bag I peered inside, a jostled looking calico catdragon kitten peered back.

“Sorry Omicron,” I whispered as I lifted her out of the bag. “Can you get us home?”

Reluctantly, Omicron took hold of my index finger with her little paw and pulled me in the direction of home.

I glanced behind at the man who was looking shocked to see that a living creature had bein in the bag he tried to steal. I winked at him as Omicron pulled me to the right leading into a busy street.

Weaving around civilians I was calculating the best way to cross the street without being killed. Taking a deep breath I darted across the road. First under a blue carriage, then jumping over a cream one, then squeezing threw a speckled horse and the butt of a pink carriage. Until I made it on the other side.

By then I could tell that people were shouting at me from all directions, but I didn’t care. Nore did I bother to look back as Omicron proceeded to pull me through a park of tall green trees. More shouting told me that the man had made it across the road, as I jumped over a shrubbery, my bare feet landing on the dewed grass.

Picking up the pace I jumped in between a couple, trampled a picnic and was out of the park.

Omicron made a sharp left and I followed panting into the plaza. They had obviously drawn now crowd in the time I had bein gone. Looking at the piloting room, where Minah and Theta were sitting, desperately threw my finger into the air, signaling the launch sequence.

Minah automatically snapped into action and began piloting the controls. Theta on the other hand toppled of the seat and pawed at the glass. Running into the closing ramp I gave one last burst of speed, before collapsing onto the wooden floor of the bar. Omicron quickly ran out into the hallway and into my room.

Breathing heavily I stood up, and walked to the control room. I looked out the window as the man was jumping up and down on the shrinking gazebo, no doubt cursing every god and goddess. I smiled and patted Minah on the head. She purred as I bent down and picked up a mewling Theta and put her on my shoulder.

Turning around I realized that my entire crew was standing their, looking utterly confused.

“Why are we leaving?” Clerble asked her wings shaking

“Ya, what happened Monoglia?” Levvio said wiping the soot off of her goggles.

“Well now let me tell you” I said leading the four of them into the kitchen and starting to  preparing lunch.

  1. Interesting story.

Enjoyed your character names. How do you decide on what the names will be? They are
    very original and unique.

Something to think about. Difference between there and their. Also consider they’re. Spell check doesn’t correct usage. Remember, I was an English teacher. Hard not to pass along some free grammar lessons now and then.

    Love ya, GT
