An Unexpected Task — or, a short scene from somebody’s life. (Acalon Labs prologue)

"Easy girl." I whispered smoothly as I stroked the dragon’s side.
"Are you sure we can do this? I mean could we wait? Are they too late? Have you really done this before? Will we kill them by accident? Or crack them? Aren’t they bigger than normal? Is she in pain?" Questioned a very panicked Sphera.
"Yes. No. Yes. Yes. No. No. No. Yes. Now please be quiet! You’re stressing Yurra out. It’s hard enough for her as it is without you flitting here and there. Just hand me the Acetarone." I said quickly. I may not want to show it but I was indeed very nervous.
With shaking hands Sphera handed me an opaque bottle filled with a creamy blue liquid.
"Thank you." I said, as she sat on a nearby stool.
Swiftly I poured the pain reliever into a spoon, opened Yurra’s mouth and dripped it into her mouth. She pulled away sharply but didn’t lash out as she would of normally done.
"That’s all we can do for her." I uttered, picking up my bag.
Sphera quietly agreed and walked out of the automatic doors as I used the tablet to turn up the heat and set the room setting to "Dragon Den". I watched as the room changed colors to match the room setting, and followed Sphera out of the door.
"Did you tell Mom and Dad that everything is going fine?" I said motioning at her phone.
"Yup," She sighed "They said they are five minutes away."
"Nothing to do but wait, I guess." I said as i peered through the oneway glass.
A little later Mom, Dad and their whole team of professionals stormed into the stable.
"Good job you two!" Dad said through our earpieces. "All the eggs came out unharmed."
I high fived Sphera, gazing into her leaf green eyes. She was basically a mini version of me. We both had Mom’s hair and Dad’s eyes, and our pointed ears were exactly the same shape.
"Ya, Aurora. We did great." Sphera said to me as if she was reading my mind.
"Now come on! Mom and Dad got this, we got some gryphons to feed." I said pulling her hand and running down the glassy floor.
